Braided Hair Ideas to Try

This classic style is always a crowd pleaser.

1. Three-Strand Braid

If your braid skills are at a basic level then this is the style for you. A chic and classic three-strand braid that includes all of your hair is always a winner in our book. Tease your hair at the crown of your head for a little extra volume and polish.

This is one of those rare styles that only benefits from having less experience with hair.

2. Random Braids

Random braids scattered throughout your hair are the best way to fake an intricate style. As one of our favorite braided hair ideas, apply some of the TRESemmé Perfectly (Un)done Sea Salt Spray onto your damp hair. Then, let it naturally air-dry.Then create small three-strand braids with random sections of hair as you create a look that’s perfectly undone.

3. Braided Headband

This style is a little trickier and requires some more practice. The secret to creating a headband braid that has just enough pop-up dimension is using hairspray to finish off your style. Start by creating a Dutch braid that starts at one ear and extends to the other. (For the Dutch braid uninitiated: a Dutch braid is like a regular french braid except for instead of adding new pieces over the original braid, you add them underneath.) Once your style is finished, lightly pull the braid apart to thicken it up and spray a mist of the Suave Professionals Luxe Style Infusion Anti-Humidity Hairspray to hold your hairstyle in place.

4. Messy Braid

Real talk: not everyone has the skills necessary to braid or the time to dedicate to learning how. This is when we say thank you to the fashion gods for the recent wave of messy hair trends and set to work recreating the style for ourselves. This particular braided hairstyle starts off with a Dutch braid and welcomes all messiness that’s bound to show up when you have less than perfect braiding techniques. Focus on letting pieces that frame your face fall out and direct the braid to one side for a more intentionally chic look. Go product-free with this style and let the undone vibes do all the talking!

6. Braid with Flowers

There’s no better way to celebrate the holidays than by incorporating a festive touch by adding flowers to your braided hairstyle. Start off by enhancing your natural texture with a golf-ball sized amount of the Dove Style + Care Volume Amplifier Mousse, then let your hair air-dry. Create a small braid along the front of your hairline and finish it off with a clear hair tie. Small flowers are key for a winter-friendly look that won’t overwhelm the style. Place them along your hairline just behind the braid and enjoy the winter wonderland look you’ve just created.
