Modern Victory Rolls: Hair Ideas to Steal from the Runway

See now, try now!

What’s old will always be new again and this time we’re talking about victory rolls. The look that was popular during the 1940s has taken stage on the Resort 2020 runway with a twist. The modern victory rolls style is a look we can get behind. It’s fun, stylish and by the looks from the catwalk, it can be worn more than just one way.

Read on as we dive into the two ways we spotted the modern victory rolls micro trend this season:

Modern Victory Rolls, Two Ways

1. Short & Slicked Back

Thought short-haired girls wouldn’t be able to wear this trend? Think again. This slicked-back style is proof that wherever there is a will, there is a way. For super short to medium locks around the fringe area, consider leaving your victory roll a bit undone. Smooth hair back with a strong hold gel like Nexxus Exxtra Hold Sculpting Gel to mold your hair into shape. If your hair is long enough for a ponytail or bun at the back, create that style. If not, smooth it down and allow the gel to dry completely.

2. The Textured Roll

If your obsession with this iteration of modern victory rolls is as deep as ours, you’ve probably stared at this image for more than 15 seconds. It’s way too good! You have got to love the balance between the smoothness at the front and the dramatic textured look at the back. Achieve this look by nailing our tutorial on teasing hair. But first, you have to get the waves in. Either use a crimping tool or a flat iron to create defined waves on your hair. Allow the hair to cool, then spray with TRESemmé Compressed Micro Mist Hair Spray Texture Hold Level 1 and let it set. After a few minutes, go to town with the teasing action. The bigger, the absolute better!
