Textured & Long Side Pony: The Runway Updo to Try Now

Serving ponytail goals.

According to the runway, dramatic ponytails are back. For Resort 2020 it’s all about the side pony but we’re after the look now. Imagine this hairstyle in the spring with a cute floral frock at brunch with your crew. Better yet, if you’re heading to a non-traditional wedding, you can get away with this hairstyle too.

Want to try your hand at it? Here are three tips to nailing the side pony from the runway.

Runway Hair: The Textured & Long Side Pony

1. Use lived-in hair.

If you’re going by the looks from the runway. The side pony is all about liver-in hair. Second or third-day hair is best for this style. Use a dry Shampoo like TRESemmé Between Washes Volumizing Dry Shampoo to refresh and volumize. Gather hair into a low side ponytail. Opt for using a texture spray to enhance and lock in your texture. We like using TRESemmé Compressed Micro Mist Hair Spray Texture Hold Level 1.

2. Tease for more texture.

This side ponytail isn’t about silky-smooth strands. The look calls for extreme texture. So trade in your sleek and neat looks in for this carefree style. Achieve this textured, bushy tail by teasing your hair. Use our simple hair teasing technique to get this look. After getting the texture you desire, lock it in with TRESemmé Compressed Micro Mist Hair Spray Extend Hold Level 4.

3. Add extensions for more drama.

Don’t have really long hair? No problem. There’s nothing adding a bit of extensions can’t fix. The length of your side pony is totally up to you, but if you are going for statement hair, go long or go home. Add in a ponytail extension to help you create a super long side pony. Use the teasing technique from the previous tip to add texture.
