Deep Side Part: How to Get The Stylish Red Carpet Hair Trend

Clean, neat and fancy!

During last night’s award show there were plenty pretty formal hairstyles that graced the red carpet, but the award for the most fabulous hair of the night goes to the deep side part worn on sleek ponytails and buns. What made the red carpet look fancier than your average ponytail was the addition of luminous shine onto the base of the hair — and of course the fabulous jewelry to accessorize the overall look. This look can be totally worn as your everyday ponytail or bun updo! Here’s an easy way to get the super polished deep side part at home.

The Red Carpet Look: Sleek Deep Side Part Updo

Step 1: Wash, condition and protect.

To create a sleek base before creating your deep side part hairstyle, wash your hair with some of the TRESemmé Keratin Infusing Smooth Shampoo. Then, condition your hair with some of the TRESemmé Keratin Infusing Smooth ConditionerAfter washing  and conditioning your hair, prep your hair with some of the TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Flat Iron Smoothing Spray to guard against heat damage. Then, dry your hair with a blowdryer.

Step 2: Flat iron for straight finish.

If you’re after a super-straight style, (like a long bone-straight ponytail with a deep side part) flat iron your hair in small sections using steady passes (but, not too slow) to ensure a straight finish.

Step 3: Pile on gloss.

Use a hair oil to add a touch of sheen to your hairstyle. We like Suave Professionals Moroccan Infusion Styling Oil for a smooth and shiny effect to any hairstyle. Add a few drops to your palm and work it through your hair. Create a deep side part from your hairline to mid-crown then brush your hair back to smoothen then gather into a low ponytail.

Step 4: Finish style and add hold.

To create your bun, wrap your hair ends around the base of your ponytail then add hairpins to secure. If a long, sexy ponytail is more of your style, brush through ends to smoothen and allow your length to hang. For a formal touch, take a few sections of hair and wrap around the your hair elastic and fasten. Finish off your look with a hairspray that provides hold without the stiff feeling like TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Hairspraywhich provides a lasting hold with natural movement.
