Looking for a new look to rock at the gym? Check out this chic (and super easy!) braid with bun hairstyle idea.

Are you looking for a chic, new look to get your hair out of your face or off your neck when you break a sweat at the gym (or your workout of choice)? While the classic messy bun and/or high ponytail will always be winners in our book for a sweat sesh, we’re also always looking for ways to mix up our gym hairstyles a bit by trying out styles that are easy, chic and, well, cool-looking! One such hairstyle that can help you switch things up a bit at the gym is a fun braided hairstyle, like this side braid bun.

The beauty of this braided bun hairstyle is how quick and easy (no, really!) it is to create that you can even refresh post-workout and rock with ease. Plus, we just love that when your hair is all plaited up, there’s no need to worry about stray sweaty strands getting all over your face, or having to deal annoying frizz. So, if you’re looking to try a new braided updo for the gym to complement your fresh workout gear, we have you covered in our side bun with braid tutorial! Read on to learn more how you can create this refreshingly easy braided side bun in a few steps and what key hair care products you’ll need to master this sporty new ‘do.

Tutorial: How to Create a Side Bun with Braid

Refresh your hair with some dry shampoo.

Before creating your side braided bun, refresh your hair with a dry shampoo like Dove Refresh + Care Volume and Fullness Dry Shampoo. This formula works to absorb any oils in your hair, leaving your mane clean and revived.

Brush your hair.

Use a paddle brush to detangle your hair and to help distribute the dry shampoo throughout your hair before styling. As you brush, brush your hair in the direction where you plan to braid your hair. If you want your braid on the left, brush left or vice versa.

Create your braid.

On one side of your hair, create a braid of your choice. We like the side French braid bun for this gym look. Braid your hair all the way down until you get to the ends of your hair.

Secure your braids.

Use a hair elastic to fasten the end of your braid.

Create your bun and finish.

Roll the ends of your hair into a tight bun, secure with several hairpins like bobby pins. If needed, use a extra-hold hairspray like Dove Style + Care Extra Hold Hairspray. This product also works to make your hair shiny and frizz-free! Score.

Final look.

Done! Now, you’re ready to head to the gym in style and break a sweat!
