Create a ponytail.
Start with clean and washed hair like the Dove Men+Care Fresh Clean Fortifying 2-in-1 Shampoo & Conditioner. Then, gather hair into a loose ponytail. If you want, you can dampen the hair before creating your ponytail to create a stronger texture to the hair with a more lived-in appearance. Use some paste like the Bed Head for Men by TIGI Pure Texture Molding Paste to smooth out the sides of your hair.
Create a man bun.
Tie hair into a man bun leaving about an inch of the ends out. You want the ends of the hair to be slightly straight for a more wavier appearance, as opposed to a curly look overall.
Blow-dry hair.
Spray hair with a heat protectant like the TRESemmé Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Spray to prevent heat damage. On a low heat setting, using a blowdryer with the concentration nozzle attached, blow-dry hair to create your wave. We recommend can opt to rotate the blowdryer around the circumference of your bun for about five minutes. If you decided to wet your hair, do this until hair feels dry.
Let it cool.
Leave the hair in the bun and allow the hair to cool for about 15 minutes. The goal is to ensure that your hair dries completely so that your cool waves are set in place.
Release and reveal.
Release your hair from the bun. During this step you can allow your hair to fall into place on its own, or you can give it a shake and tousle with your fingers. Smooth down any cowlicks with some pomade like the Axe Signature Smooth Look: Shine Pomade. How easy was that?!
