When you can’t decide if you want to wear your hair up or down!
I don’t know about you, but I definitely have my go-to hairstyles I rotate between. Whether it’s a french braid or a simple headband, there’s a good chance you’ll find me showing off one of these styles. My favorite go-to: the high half pony.
This style is probably the one I wear most often because it does a great job keeping hair out of my face, I’m able to still have hair framing my face, and it allows me to show off my girly style. Plus, I have to admit, sometimes you just can’t decide if you want to wear your hair up or down, so it’s a great option for that dilemma too! Keep scrolling to find out how you can achieve this flirty high pony look.
The High Half Pony: How to Create This Ultra Girly Hairstyle
Step 1: Revamp hair.
Are you working with second or third-day hair? Before you create your half pony, start by refreshing your hair with the Love Beauty and Planet Volume and Bounty Juicy Grapefruit Day 2 Dry Shampoo. This shampoo will remove excess oil, create more volume and add a fruity scent to your tresses.
Step 2: Gently tease hair for volume.
To create even more volume, pick up a couple of sections of hair towards the top of your head and gently tease near the root by brushing backward with a fine-toothed comb. Hey, you don’t need to go crazy here because you don’t want to look like you walked straight out of the ’80s and nobody wants to deal with a giant tangled mess at the end of the night! Repeat this step at the base of your ponytail once it’s secured to create a voluminous half pony.
Step 3: Section off hair for half pony.
Create the section of hair that will become by half pony by splitting your hair in two sections. Essentially, all hair level with the top of your ear and above will be in the ponytail. Use a brush to smooth out any bumps, and then secure your half pony with a hair tie.
Step 4: Prep for heat.
Since you can’t have a girly hairstyle without a few curls, you have to prep your luscious locks for the heat! Use the TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Heat Protectant Spray. This will create more shine and protect your hair against any unwanted damage.
Step 5: Create the curls.
Start by wrapping sections of hair a round a 1-inch curling iron. Gently brush through your curls once your hair is cooled to create a loose vibe.
Step 6: Lock it in.
To ensure your hair stays in place and doesn’t lose its shape throughout the day, finish off with the Suave Professionals Natural Smooth Micro Mist Hairspray.
Step 6: Finish With a Bow
This is optional of course, but if you want to add an extra girly touch to your look, wrap a ribbon around the hair tie and create a bow!
