7 Party Looks to Rock on Labor Day Weekend

These end-of-season looks send off the summer in style.

With Labor Day Weekend just around the corner, we have one of two options: Sulk that summer has, once again, ended much too soon, or take this as an opportunity to go out with a bang, quite literally. And since we’re advocates of optimism, we’re obvi all about Plan B; summer may be over but that doesn’t mean the party has to end. That said, we’ve rounded up some of the best party looks to rock all weekend long to give summer the farewell it so rightly deserves. Read on:

Eye-Catching Party Looks for Labor Day Weekend

Party looks blunt bob with bangs
A proper bob takes you seamlessly into Fall.

1. Blunt Bangs

Bangs are quite the commitment, but once you have your own freshly snipped set, you’ll find that some hairstyles are just meant to be. Enter the blunt bob with bangs. When you add a fringe to a Cleopatra-chic bob it creates a stark contrast that adds a certain directionality to any outfit it’s paired with.

party looks bandana
When in doubt, a bandana or scarf tied around your head gives instant boho-chic appeal.

2. Hair Bandanas

Tie on a bandana into any flowing style for an instant Americana vibe that’s perfect for summer and seasons thereafter. Not only will it keep cowlicks and flyaways behaved, it can also double as a turban whenever humidity spikes and you’re in need of a sudden updo.

Party looks dutch pigtails
Dutch pigtails get an even edgier update when criss-crossed.

3. Crafty Pigtails

Ever since ’90s hairstyles went back on our radar (TBQH did they ever leave, though?), we’ve had a soft spot for pigtails. And since everyone’s #adulting come Pre-Fall, we’d like to elevate these youthful party looks in any way possible. In the case of a hot end-of-summer shindig, criss-cross braids do just the trick of adding style, while keeping you comfortably cool all day long. To make your braid look thicker, learn how to pancake your plait, or tug at each section starting at the bottom of the braid, working your way up to the top. To lock the look in, use TRESemmé Climate Protection Finishing Spray.

4. Space Buns

Another fun ’90s twist on classic pigtails is to tie them up in buns or Bantu knots. This stylish, clubby look not only keeps your neck as cool as possible, but it’s secure enough to make it through that Labor Day beach volleyball game that’s bound to get competitive. Looking to spice up your buns? Add a middle, center or zigzag part.

5. Unicorn Braid

There’s just something about the effortless, edgy chic of an accent braid that leaves us swooning. With a few motions, you can take any messy bun to the next level, making it a great hairstyle for that laid-back pool party or that end-of-season music festival. See how to achieve the raddest unicorn braid here.

party looks loose waves
Big waves are the epitome of end-of-summer sexy.

6. Loose Waves

Waves are one of, if not the go-to look for summer. They give off an #IWokeUpLikeThis vibe that can be taken from your a.m. yoga class all the way to happy hour. That said, when you’re looking for a super simple party look in a few days, prep your locks with Dove Nutritive Solutions Coconut & Hydration Shampoo and Dove Nutritive Solutions Coconut & Hydration Conditioner, then blowdry and use a wand to achieve those flowing bends.

7. Hair Bow

What’s a party look without a bow? This super simple three-step bow bun is definitely the gift that keeps on giving: Not only is it a quirky, unique look, it also keeps frizz and poufiness at bay, especially during windier days. Make sure to use lots of bobby pins to keep your bow in place!
