Fashion Girls are All About Air Dry Hairstyles

It's so easy to style your hair on the go!

The air dry hairstyles trend is taking the fashion scene by storm. While the method of air-drying hair is nothing new, it’s been seriously revamped as more women are using this technique to create some of the easiest, spur-of-the-moment trendy hairstyles. No longer categorized for those in the ‘quick and easy camp’ (although it ticks those boxes, too), the air-drying hair method is a great option when you want to skip the heat styling process, dry hair on the go (especially during the summer heat!) or crave a fashion-forward new way to style your mane. However, we get that not all of us have success with air-dry hairstyles. If done wrong, you can be left with frizzy, pouffy, dry or matted hair. And no one wants that!

If you’re ready to try out this street style trend without any mishaps, we are here to help you out. Below we’re highlighting two air dry hairstyles we’re digging at the moment, plus some tips on how you can recreate these looks without getting it wrong. Read on to learn more about how you can master the art of air-dried hair today!

1. Air Dried Wave

First things first: Back away from the salt spray! You won’t be needing it for this effortless wavy look. What you will be needing, is a product that helps to hold your wave in place without the crunch factor. In this case, try using a gel, like Suave Professionals Luxe Style Infusion Curl Defining Gel Serum. The gel works to help define your wave as your hair dries.

After washing and conditioning your hair, comb your hair using a wide-tooth comb in the direction you want your hair to fall. Apply the gel to the ends of your hair then create two to three braids. Allow the gel to dry for about 20 minutes just for the texture formed by the braid to set, then release. Once your hair is fully air-dried, you’ll have an effortless-looking wavy hairstyle.

2. Air Dried Slicked Back Bob

We love how the classic bob haircut is styled into an edgy ’do in this look. To recreate this style on short hair, start off with freshly-washed hair. Starting off with a clean slate is best as you’ll be needing some product to help create the slicked-back look. Since the point of air-drying hair is to cut down on styling and heat styling tools,  use a shampoo that’ll save you some time, too!

Wash and condition your hair with TRESemmé Cleanse and Replenish 2-in-1 Shampoo Plus Conditioner to remove residue and cleanse your hair in just one step. After washing your hair, detangle and gently comb it back. Apply Nexxus Exxtra Hold Sculpting Gel from the hairline to mid-crown only, and leave your ends free from any product. After a few hours of air-drying (could be about an hour depending on how thick your hair is), you’ll have an edgy slicked-back bob hairstyle that’s perfect for making a fashionable statement wherever you go.
