Faux Shave Braid Tutorial

1

Start with clean hair.

Like many braided hairstyles, it’s best to start with clean hair. When hair is clean styling is more manageable and tends to look a bit more polished in the end result. To start with fresh tresses, wash and condition your hair with the Nexxus New York Salon Care Diametress Shampoo and Nexxus New York Salon Care Diametress Conditioner system. Used as a duo, these hair care products work to clean your hair as they add in some awesome volume. Allow your hair to air-dry until it’s around 90% dry.

2

Create your braid.

When your hair is dry, brush your hair and then separate it into three even sections for your three-strand braid. Then, working piece by piece, braid your hair along the shaven line until you reach the end. You can create a loose or very tight braid, depending on your preference. Once you finish your basic braid tuck it under the rest of your mane and secure it with a couple of bobby pins or a clear hairtie.

Sweep it to the side and you're done!

To really showcase your freshly braided half-shaven masterpiece, pull your hair around to the side. Not only will your braid take centerstage, but all of your remaining hair will be in one place which will avoid pesky knots or, even worse considering the heat index this summer, a hot neck. Sounds like a win-win to us! To complete your newly braided hairstyle, apply some hair oil, like the Suave Professionals Coconut Oil Infusion Damage Repair Oil Treatment, to the long part of your hair. This formula works to make rest of your hair shine while also keeping it frizz-free.

Now that your side shaven braid is on point, just remember the most important part of any hairstyle is to wear it and think “#yasss, I look good!” because, as they say, confidence is key.
