Wear this Super-Extra Athletic Ponytail to Your Spin Class Because Why Not

Create this look in four easy steps.

We live in an age when athleisure and fashion are one and the same and here at All Things Hair, we feel #blessed about that. The blurring of lines between fashion and workout wear lends to super wearable trends. The athletic ponytail seen backstage at Chromat’s FW2020 NYFW is one such example that lends to real hair inspiration. Justine Marjan, TRESemmé Global Stylist, created this athletic ponytail for this season’s Chromat show. “The theme of the show has Olympic undertones, so we wanted to create a look that felt sporty for training,” Marjan says. “We used custom Chromat ribbons to keep hair in place, but overall it’s imperfect and achievable. We’re keeping it messy. It’s all about imperfection – just a cool person working out.”

Create this look in 4 easy steps!

Step 1: Prep your hair.

Start off by prepping your hair with TRESemmé Dry Texture Finishing Spray. This texture spray is the perfect base for an undone and imperfect style.

Step 2: Create your ponytail.

Gather your hair into a half-up ponytail and secure with a hair tie. Gather the remaining hair at the nape of your neck and create another ponytail. This will serve as the base for your athletic ponytail.

Step 3: Add extensions.

Secure braiding hair to the top ponytail and then wrap a Chromat ribbon to the base of the ponytail. Weave it down the length of the hair and trying into a knot at the bottom of the ponytail. Use your fingers to pull the hair apart from the ribbon for a disheveled finish.

Step 4: Set the style.

Finish off your athletic ponytail with a mist of TRESemmé Compressed Micro Mist Level 4: Extend Hair Spray to set the style in place.
