Hence a peek into our summer hair essentials, a.k.a. our current non-negotiables, because even though changing seasons are a reality, damaged locks shouldn’t be. Editor Shelfies: Summer Hair Essentials for 2017

What Serena loves: hardworking products that refresh after #doingthings.

“This summer has been amazing (so far!), but also super busy. I start my day with a run and if my hair and scalp don’t get totally sweaty, I’ll use some Dove Refresh+Care Detox & Purify Dry Shampoo to refresh and soak up any oils. One wash days, I apply Nexxus New York Salon Care City Shield DD Crème after I wash and condition, or even post-blowout to help tame that summer pouf and inevitable frizz. Post-beach days, I love to revive my face and wash away the sand and ickiness by using Simple Skincare Cleansing Face Wipes and freshen up with Dove deodorant. Finally, I take care of my lips with Vaseline Lip Therapy Rosy Lip Tin for a smooth and cake-free pucker.”

Protect yo’self! Eunice can’t live without thoughtful primers and effective damage defense.

I’ve been deep-diving into my spiritual practice for the past year, and the lazy/crazy days of summer have been clutch for recharging and protection (tiger eye crystals and agates help a ton!). I picked up a bottle of Living Proof Restore Perfecting Spray at a beauty run in Vegas, after its beloved predecessor was forgotten during a hungover-checkout situation—needless to say I’m guarding this one with my life. TRESemmé Repair & Protect 7 Pre-Styling Spray transitions me from bleach life to beach life, easy: It gets my dyed hair feeling silky and virgin again, which is kind of a miracle at this point. Nexxus New York Salon Care City Shield DD Crème keeps me feel sexy during my Manhattan staycations, because rooftops and rosé brunches demand cuteness at all times. Lastly, TIGI Bed Head Hair Stick has seen me through everything since the Early Aughts, from space buns to top knots, so bless.”

Moisture and frizz-free definition are high on Alyssa’s list.

“This summer I am all about having frizz-free hair, so I’ve been loving the Suave Professionals Avocado+Olive Oil wash and care system. The shampoo is so gentle on my curls and it gives me soft hair even before conditioning. I apply the leave-in conditioner after rinsing out my conditioner so that my naturally dry hair has some extra nourishment. When it comes to styling, I usually use a few products to define my curls, but for the summer season, I just rather spend my time enjoying the warm weather. Suave Professionals Luxe Style Infusion Curl Defining Gel Serum is all I need to create my curly styles. The lightweight formula doesn’t weigh my hair down, and my curls are left defined, shiny and so soft. When it comes to skin, I have to use a cleanser that thoroughly cleanses without stripping moisture. This Kate Somerville cleanser is perfect for hot summer days when I’ve been sweating a lot—which is like every day this season.”

Miriam’s ride-or-die list includes products for volume, impact and bounce.

“This summer has been all about keeping my beauty routine as low-key as possible. As far as my hair goes, I take an extra five minutes in the shower once a week to let Nexxus New York Salon Care Emergencée Repair Reconstructing Treatment work some magic on my damaged ends. Once I hop out of the shower, I towel-dry my hair and scrunch a pump of TRESemmé Beauty Full Volume Touchable Bounce Mousse through my strands to add some mega volume and some extra oomph. On the following mornings when my roots need a little refreshing, I’ll massage Dove Refresh+Care Volume & Fullness Dry Shampoo into my hair. As far as makeup goes, I’ve mostly been going makeup-free because it’s just been too hot. I’ve made it a priority to learn how to apply false lashes so that I can still make somewhat of a statement even on the warmest nights. When it comes to jewelry, I’ve been embracing daintier pieces: My mom has recently rekindled a passion for jewelry-making and she made me this ‘M’ charm that I’ve been wearing on the daily.”
