Volumized Ponytail: Pump Up the Jam with This Tutorial

Big, voluminous ponytails are in!

Skill

There’s nothing like throwing your hair up into a simple ponytail. This classic updo style takes about five minutes to create and it complements any event and outfit. However, there is something really exciting, and stylish about the volumized ponytail. We don’t know about you, but sometimes a little drama goes a long way.

This ponytail style may appeal to those with fine hair, too. Women with fine or thin hair know the struggle with creating the perfect ponytail with volume. With simple hair hacks, you can be well on your way to faking a fuller ponytail without anyone ever knowing. Ahead you’ll learn how to create this volumized ponytail style:

1

Tease hair.

Start with clean or second-day hair. We prefer a lived-in texture for this look so second-day hair is best. Use a dry shampoo like TRESemmé Fresh & Clean Dry Shampoo to remove excess oil and refresh hair. Take a fine-toothed comb and tease hair at the crown for volume. This is an important step in creating the perfect volumized ponytail style.

2

Create ponytail.

Gather hair into a ponytail and secure with a hair elastic. Take a small section of your hair and wrap it around the base of the ponytail holder. Make sure its enough hair to cover your hair elastic.

3

Fasten with a hairpin.

After wrapping a section of hair around the ponytail holder, you want to keep that hair in place. Slide a hairpin into the base of your ponytail to secure. If you need more than one pin, add another. Stick to 1-2 pins to keep things neat and clutter-free.

4

Set with hairspray.

What’s a voluminous pony without movement? No one likes a stiff ponytail. It’s time to lock in your style so that it lasts throughout the day. Set hair with hair spray that will give you flexible hold. Use Suave Natural Hold Micro Mist Hairspray for a flexible, natural movement.
