Our New Year Hair Resolutions and How We Plan to Keep Them

How I'm caring for my hair in the new year.

Here at All Things Hair, we aren’t the first ones to jump on the New Year’s bandwagon by writing a long list of resolutions for the next twelve months, but we’re also not ones to shy away from any form of self-improvement. And when it comes to hair and taking care of our strands, we are always up for making some healthier choices. Below is a rundown of our new year hair resolutions and exactly how we plan to keep them.

New Year Hair Resolutions

From a few planet-friendly decisions to a commitment to get our hair cut more often, our new year hair resolutions have us feeling excited to tackle and conquer the coming year.

Readers share their 2022 hair goals.

In a recent poll conducted by All Things Hair, we found that 28.67% of people also hope to give their hair a healthy kick this year. Here are some ways we are jumpstarting that goal:

1. We’ll be getting more frequent haircuts.

It’s hard to remember to make time to schedule frequent enough trims. We are making a commitment to getting a trim every two months to keep our hair healthy and fresh.

We’ll be using products like Suave Professionals Avocado + Olive Oil Smoothing Leave-In Conditioner to smooth our strands and keep them healthy and moisturized in-between haircuts.

2. We’ll be giving our hair a break from hot tools.

We have all been guilty of frying our hair with a hair straightener or curling iron for as long as we can remember.  We are going to try and use our hot tools less frequently by employing an effective air-dry method. In addition, we’ll be stretching out the time in between hair washes.

Here are some bad habits our readers are trying to kick.

When we do make a break for a curling iron, we are going to be more diligent about using a heat protectant on our strands. 15.67% of our readers admit that they are hoping to be better about using a heat protectants before styling. Dove Style+Care Smooth and Shine Heat Protection Spray have been our favorite lately.

3. We’ll be switching over to a planet-friendly dry shampoo.

Because we’ll be stretching out the time in between hair washes, we’ll need dry shampoo more than ever. Love Beauty and Planet Coconut Water & Mimosa Flower Dry Shampoo are a cruelty-free, silicone-free, and dye-free option that works just as well as our current dry shampoo faves. We’ll be cutting down our shower times and wasting less water. All while supporting a planet-conscious brand that prioritizes our strands and the earth at the same time.
