Creating a fun hair look can really amp up an outfit and give you another way to express yourself. My look of the day was pretty edgy and cool with my baggy ripped jeans and fresh, white sneakers. I decided I needed a hairstyle to take it to the next level. As I was scrolling through my Instagram feed looking for inspiration, I saw this cool Dutch braid half-updo and decided I would recreate it. The look was really simple and I love how it turned out:
Creating My #LookoftheDay
How I got the look
The first thing I did was create a small Dutch braid at the top of my head. Next, I grabbed a small section of hair at the top of my head and braided until I had gone about two-thirds of the way down my head.
What’s great about this braid is its versatility. You can either make it tight and clean or looser with more volume. If you want it to be looser, secure the braid and then simply use your fingers to tug at the strands until they become more undone.
After I secured the braid, I decided it needed some more hair to join it in the half-up style to make it look more even and complete. I took a small section from either side of the braid and gathered it together. Once I secured the look into a full updo, I pulled the side strands of the ponytail to cinch the hair tie forward to create more volume.
To add some flair to the back of the look I kept braiding the rest of my hair after my Dutch braid was complete. I finished off the look by clipping in my extensions and adding some Love Beauty and Planet Smooth and Serene Argan Oil & Lavender Leave-In Smoothie Cream to tame my frizz.
Once the look was officially complete, I secured it with a spray of TRESemmé Compressed Micro Mist Hairspray Smooth Hold Level 2. I love the way my look of the day turned out and it took only about 15 minutes to create. This look would go great for any occasion and is sure to turn heads!
