We kicked off our NYFW coverage this year with the super talented Lacy Redway and the romantic Hollywood twist chignon she created for Christian Siriano. We all love a classic updo especially when it can be achieved in five steps or less and with as few as three products. The beauty of this golden era twist is that you can dress it up or down. And of course, you can wear it during the night or day.
How to Do a Hollywood Twist Chignon
I was inspired by the elegance of Christian’s collection and created an elevated and modern take on a deep side-parted low bun to complement the powerful women that wear his clothes. The style is a modern take on the iconic Hollywood bun – confident and sleek, but with a little edge.

A Hollywood Twist Chignon in Less than 5 Steps
Step 1: The first step to creating this iconic Hollywood twist chignon is to do a deep side-part from the midbrow to the back of the hair. Once the hair is separated, apply TRESemmé Tres Two Extra Hold Hair Gel to the front section of the hair. Second, using a tail comb, swoop the front section of the hair across the forehead and behind the ears. In the same fashion, the tail comb will allow you to do a defined separation of hair across the forehead to create a deep side part.
Step 2: In order to add dimension to the Hollywood twist, prep the rest of the hair for a blowout by applying TRESemmé TRES Two Extra Firm Control Mousse for subtle volume. Furthermore, the best thing about this mousse is that creates a soothing effect needed for the straight blowout. Following this step, proceed to blow out your hair on medium heat and high speed for a quick, but safe blowdry. Medium heat and high speed will reduce hair damage.
Final Touches To Your Hollywood Twist Chignon
Step 3: Once your hair is completely dry, do a low pony and straighten the hair using a flat iron. Create the twist by wrapping hair onto itself coupled with hair pins to secure it.
Step 4: Additionally, once the hair is secured, add some hold by spraying the entire head with TRESemmé Total Volume Hair Spray, focusing the mist on the chignon. As a matter of fact, you can tame your flyaways by putting a drop of gel in an old toothbrush or by using your fingers.
