Halloween Hairstyles: Complete Your Queen Costume with a Crown Braid

Bow down to this simple Halloween braid fit for a queen.

This year, we definitely predict that besides Halloween hairstyles with braids, many will be channeling the hairstyles of their favorite characters from all of the Netflix shows they’ve been binge watching for the past couple of months. But maybe getting a buzzcut like Eleven is not your thing, and plus everyone probably will be doing it. How about something simple, like a costume that will allow you to finally live out your fairy tale dreams? Or better yet, a look that’s fit for a queen?

To complete your queen costume, consider styling your hair into a simple 1940s vintage-inspired crown braid style. Nowadays, you can easily head to your local hair supply store and pick out a braided wig and call it a day. But if you’re more of the D.I.Y. type, you can learn how to create this braided hairstyle at home with our easy Halloween hairstyles tutorial.

Here’s your five-step guide to creating this look:

Adorn your crown with fun accessories to match your Halloween costume.

Step 1: Wash and condition your hair.

Wash and condition your hair. Then, prep your tresses with a volumizing product to give your roots a bit of lift before creating your braids. Apply Suave Professionals Luxe Style Infusion Volumizing Weightless Blow Dry Spray to your hair, then blow-dry your hair in workable sections.

Step 2: Part your hair.

Part hair down the middle of your head with a rattail comb. Then secure each section into a low ponytail using a hair elastic.

Step 3: Braid your hair.

Braid the length of each ponytail, then fasten the ends with a hair elastic.

Step 4: Cross the braids.

Cross the left braid over the top of your head and secure in place with some bobby pins. Repeat the same step for the right, and tuck the ends of the braids into one another to create the illusion of just one chunky braid. Clip the hair elastics at the base of your braids to remove.

Step 5: Pancake your braids.

Gently pull your braid apart, a.k.a pancake, your braids to loosen and widen your crown. Then apply Bed Head by TIGI Joyride Texturizing Powder Balm to create a bit of texture to your braid and you’re ready for your next Halloween party!
