The only braids you need to sport next spring!
If you read our NYFW street style hair trend predictions, you’d already know that we expected to see braids either on or off the runway. We were right. Last night at the Harlem’s Fashion Row Style Awards and Fashion Show, Ursula Stephens, TRESemmé’s NYFW Stylist, created bumpin’ braids for Kimberly Goldson’s SS ’19 Collection.
These braids were not your normal, small to medium-sized box braids, these were your jumbo braids that we’ve been seeing our favorite celebrities and street style stars wear. What’s more? Ursula made it a point to highlight that braids are for everyone. Read on to see how you can score bumpin’ braids runway look at home:

According to Ursula, “Braids are for everyone; I love the unisex feel of this hairstyle. It’s one of those looks that girls AND guys really love wearing. For added definition, make sure to use big sections for each braid and create straight parts for a dramatic look.” Although there were no men in attendance for this collection, we did see women of different ethnicities wearing the look.
Step 2: To prepare for the blowdrying process, section the hair into 10-11 large sections and hold in place with section clips.
Step 3: For protection Apply TRESemmé Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Spray and blow-dry each section of hair.
Step 4: Attach the synthetic hair to each section and braid downward. Secure the ends of the braids with black rubber bands.
Step 5: Cut the ends of each braid to create a blunt and frayed finish.
Step 6: Finish the look off with TRESemmé Compressed Micro-Mist Hairspray Extend Hold Level 4 to keep flyaways at bay.
