Now Trending: 3 Awesome New Hairstyles for Long Hair

The kind of waist-training we definitely can get behind.

If you’ve been paying any attention at all to celebrity beauty trends, you’ll notice that super-long, Rapunzel strands are having a major moment. Not that this length was ever out of style of course (it’s literally a look that’s been around since the dawn of time). But in a space full of chunky, new lengths and modern haircuts, new hairstyles for long hair have been few and far between lately, so we’re beyond stoked!

We see a full head of long, luxurious locks, and we see a blank canvass with endless possibility. Scroll down for a list of new hairstyles for long hair we can’t wait to show off as soon as last year’s lobs grow in!

3 Trendy New Hairstyles for Long Hair

Few looks come close to the glamour and femininity that come with waist-length hair.

1. The Full-On Curtain

Equal parts Native American princess and 1970s disco diva, this look centers around extra-long strands with barely any layering. Best when worn with a clean center part, this is also a look that begs to be showcased with a seal-like shine. To achieve, first wash hair with a shine-inducing system (we like Dove Radiant Shine Shampoo and Radiant Shine Conditioner), then towel-dry. Prep with a frizz-fighting shine spray such as TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Flat Iron Smoothing Spray, then follow up with a blast of the blowdryer and then a few passes of the flat iron for a paparazzi-worthy gleam.

2. The Perky Half-Updo

We were all about the sleek, runway-worthy ponytail in 2016, so this year we’re taking it a step further and going the flirty, cheerleader route. A bouncy half-updo is one of the most sophisticated new hairstyles for long hair we’re keeping on our radars, as not only are they a charming workday look, they also pack quite the date–night punch. Vintage-inspired (that mini-beehive though), this bumpy half-updo is a heck of a lot of fun to wear. Nail that volume with some mousse or thickening lotion, like Nexxus Mousse Plus Volumizing Foam, then blow-dry with a round brush and some backcombing for a coquettish lift at the root.

3. The Wet Look

One of the sultriest new hairstyles for long hair is the slicked-back style, especially on shoulder-length hair or longer. Worn on bobs it gets a futuristic bent, but add a bit more length and you get a femme fatale feel that’s so up or alley for 2017! Contrary to popular belief, this is a look that doesn’t just rely on straight-up gel to achieve; foundation gives this hairstyle integrity, so start after washing by priming locks with a leave-in conditioner or styling cream (we like S Factor by TIGI Smoothing Lusterizer), then going over it again with a high-sheen gel, such as TRESemmé TRES Two Mega Firm Gel and refining the brush-back with a fine-toothed comb. Finish with a shine spray, such as Bed Head by TIGI Headrush Shine Spray, and get ready to turn heads.
