It’s time to call in the big guns: learning to tease hair. Teasing helps create a lift in your locks via the use of a comb or a brush. A favorite technique for those who have thin hair, teasing is a classic method to achieve height throughout your hair without doing that much.
The trick to learning how to tease your hair is to work in sections and get the right brush or comb, which will create that bumped-up look that you desire. Read on to learn how to tease hair in minutes with four of our simple and fun hair tutorials for any occasion:

How to Tease Your Hair for Volume

Looking for instant volume? We hear you. Even if you are blessed with naturally thick tresses, adding height and lift to a hairstyle can take it from zero to hero in a matter of minutes. Our secret hack? Learning how to tease hair in just five minutes. Try this tutorial below:
Section your hair.
Using a comb, take a small section of hair from your crown or wherever you’re looking to create volume and lift.

Refresh.
Lift your chosen section of hair and spray it with Bed Head by TIGI Oh Bee Hive! Dry Shampoo. This will refresh your strands and give you a clean and fresh base to work with.

Start backcombing.
Hold the hair up in one hand and using your other hand, comb the hair from the mid-lengths down towards the roots pushing firmly as you go.

Repeat.
Divide the hair as you go and repeat this process. Hold your strands at a ninety-degree angle to ensure your backcombing is even for all sections.

Use the tail comb trick.
Double check your teased sections are backcombed well enough by trying to push the end of a tail comb through them from front to back.
If your hair is well teased, the comb should not be able to pass through.

Smooth over.
The trick to learning how to tease hair for volume is to gently use a paddle brush. Smooth over the surface of the teased hair sections with your brush, so that they look sleek and frizz-free.
And remember: try to do this carefully, so that the volume remains intact.

Work in sections.
Separate your hair into small and workable sections to create the teased hair look. This starts by using a brush or a comb to tease your hair underneath in an upward motion, creating the teased look. Then, go on the top part of your hair, repeating the upward comb motion. Do this multiple times per section to create the volume you desire.

Continue the process.
Continue the teasing process as you use your comb to create big and voluminous hair. Brush down any wayward strands or frizz with a soft brush.

You're done!
Now, how easy was that? Spritz your hair with some hairspray to lock in the style. We like the TRESemmé Tres Two Hold Extra Hold Hairspray, which works to hold onto your style without leaving your hair sticky or stiff.
