Let’s give the mermaid braid tutorial a shot, shall we? Read on to learn how to nail this complex looking braid at home:

Mermaid Braid Tutorial: The Not-So-Complex Tutorial

1

Start with clean hair.

Before creating your mermaid braid let’s start off with a smooth and clean base. Wash hair with Suave Professionals Avocado and Olive Oil Smoothing Shampoo and Conditioner to gently cleanse and prevent any unintentional frizz.
2

Create drop curls.

Prep hair with a heat protectant like TRESemmé Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Spray then use a curling iron to create ringlet curls all over your hair.

3

Create a half up ponytail.

After creating your curls, allow your hair to cool off and set then gather the top section of your hair into a ponytail and secure with a hair tie.

4

Braid your pony.

Braid the lengths of your hair then secure the ends with a hair elastic.

5

Take an outer piece of hair to begin the weaving process.

Pull a section of hair out and in the next step you’ll be weaving this into your braid as if you’re threading a needle.

6

Loop another section.

Take another section of hair and loosely weave it into your braid, and repeat the same step on the opposite side.

7

Secure end of mermaid braid.

Once you have weaved all of your loose hair into the braid, secure the ends with a hair elastic.

8

Finish your style.

Finish the look off by setting with a hairspray like Dove Style + Care Strength and Shine Flexible Hold Hairspray.

Ladies, how easy was that? All it takes is a simple braided ponytail followed by weaving your loose hair through the braid!
