If any look dominated both the runways and real life, it was soft bohemian waves. This casual-looking yet majorly trendy look displayed mucho sex appeal with little of the fuss. We instantly fell in love with how soft bohemian waves could amp up your style yet remain a bit rough around the edges; in fact, it’s this uptown-downtown tone that made it such a hit with industry insiders and street-style stars alike.
Check out this step-by-step tutorial on how to best achieve a couture version of soft bohemian waves—backstage from Rebecca Minkoff at NYFW, no less! TRESemme’s very ownJeanie Syfushows us how best to achieve that gritty-pretty balance with wavy locks:

Blow-dry your hair straight.
After washing with a moisturizing system made for waves (we like TRESemmé Perfectly (un)Done Shampoo and Conditioner), blow-dry your hair in a downwards motion and use a round brush to get rid of all kinks. This is the prep you need to create soft bohemian waves.

Wrap hair around a curling iron.
Using a 1 1/4″ curling iron, wrap your hair evenly around the barrel and leaving around 1″ of the ends out for a more casual feel. Holding the iron horizontally helps form a more structured (instead of a haphazard or “beachy”) wave. Hold for around five seconds or so, then release. This is the foundation for your soft bohemian waves, so make sure you take your time!

Brush your hair out for a fluffy finish.
To further separate/soften your look, gently brush out your curls using a boar-bristled brush. Work from the root to the tip to avoid any frizz. Zhuzh it up a bit around the shoulders and fringe area, and you’re all set! Enjoy your soft bohemian waves!
