Give your ponytail an instant stylish update with this easy tutorial.

It’s no secret that we all are always looking for ways to make our hairstyles look less boring and more fun. The ponytail is indeed a classic hairstyle and it may be one of your go-to styles when all else fails. However, at times the simple pony can feel just a little too basic, especially when you resort to this look every single day. This is when you should turn things up a notch and do something cool with your ponytail hairstyle to update the look by revamping it with a creative twist. We’ve shown you how to create a double knot ponytail, and now we’re teaching you how to create a single knot ponytail. Read on to learn how to create this fun single knot ponytail on your hair in just four simple steps.

Single Knot Ponytail: How to Get the Look

1

Begin with clean and straight hair.

Wash and blow-dry your hair to begin your single knot ponytail with a smooth canvas. You may want to wear this hairstyle throughout the entire day or maybe two. Opt for a hair care system that provides longevity to your hairstyle and tames frizz like Suave Professionals Keratin Infusion Shampoo and Suave Professionals Keratin Infusion Conditioner. To prepare hair before blow drying, use the Suave Professionals Heat Defense Leave-In Conditioner.

Create sections.

Part your hair about an inch or two behind your hairline on both sides. Leave the front section of your hair out and clip it away while you work on the back. You’ll be using the front section of hair to create your twist later on. Once you’ve made your sections and clipped them away, gather the back section of your hair into a low ponytail.

Pull front sections back and create twists.

Using your hands, smooth the front sections you created in the last step towards the back of your head. Tie the ends into a knot directly above your ponytail.

Pin and complete.

Wrap the ends of your knot around the base of your ponytail (as if you were creating a bun). Use some hairpins to secure the style in place and mist with a holding spray to finish. Try Suave Professionals Luxe Style Infusion Plump Hold Hairspray to give your ponytail long lasting hold that’s full of body as well as bounce.
