Happy National Blowout Day!
Yup, apparently it's a thing... and we flippin' love it!
Friday, July 28, is National Blowout Day, and if there was any day to celebrate rocking the best blow-dried coif of your life, then this is it. Whether you’re a fan of a smooth, polished, uptown ’do or want a look with a bit of a kick, there’s no disputing the feeling of put-togetherness that a blowout can impart. So much so, that salons exclusively for daily blow-drying and styling have been popping up around the metro, a testament to how much a good hair day really is worth to us busy city folk.
National Blowout Day: Our Fave Workday Looks
National Blowout Day or not, we understand in our heart of hearts how crucial a great blowout is to an overall look. (And let’s be honest: air-drying hair in a city environment, during High Summer? Kind of a hard no.). That said, we know it can be a pain to have to wrestle with a blow-dryer and 10 more precious minutes in the morning, which is why we put down a few of our favorite no-brainer blowout looks you can ace in a jiffy. Read on:

1. The Full Spiral
Best hack ever, and especially effective on fine to medium hair: Split hair into three—left, middle and right—and twirl each section vertically around a round brush while blasting with a blowdryer, then gently tug through. The result: A full, smooth-looking barrel, at a fraction of the time and effort.

2. The Undercurl
No time to spare? Then we’re keeping it old school. Run a round brush on the underside of hair, twirling the brush forward so hair curls underneath the brush. Tug as you’re blowing it outwards then downwards, then release. The result? Polished pageboy ends.

3. The Pinhead
If poker-straight strands remain on top of your list, then you must, by all accounts, have a paddle brush in your arsenal—it will streamline your glam so much and change your life. Split hair into sections, then run said paddle brush first on the underside of each section as you blow-dry, then on top of it. The blowdryer must trail it downwards during both times, with the airflow focused downwards to seal down the cuticle.
