The key to fighting dry winter hair.
What you’ll need
When it comes to fall/winter hair care, give me all the moisture available. During the colder months, my beauty routine gets a little more complicated — not complaining, I love a good at-home self-care session. Right now, in regards to caring for my natural hair, I am focused on moisture retention. Dry hair be gone! To combat my dry hair woes I’ve thrown in a coconut milk hair mask into the mix. Not coconut milk straight from the can per say, but a product that has all of it’s goodness infused into the formula plus more. Read on to learn more about my experience with the Suave Professionals Coconut Milk Infusion Intense Moisture Mask.
Coconut Milk Hair Mask: How This Infused Formula Helps Dry Hair
To begin my routine, I wash my hair with the Suave Coconut Milk Infusion Deep Moisture Shampoo. As mentioned in my most recent Nexxus review, for the fall season, I’ve been wearing my hair in a wavy style that involves using heat styling tools on my hair. At the moment, I am giving my hair a break and focusing on replenishing the moisture the dry air is sucking out of my juicy curls.
Following my shampoo process, I divide my hair into two sections (as if I were creating space buns). Then, I apply the Suave Coconut Milk Infusion Intense Moisture Mask to my hair. (I must admit, I’m a little heavy handed with the application because I have thick hair, a fingertip amount of product won’t cut it.) After working the product through my hair from mid-lengths to the ends, I roll my sections into buns, then cover my hair with a heating cap for about 10 minutes.
What I love about this coconut milk hair mask —besides the awesome smell— is that it doesn’t take long for it to penetrate the hair shaft. While I do love to cuddle on the couch for hours with a hair mask and a book in hand, during the colder months, I much rather be able to rinse my hair as quickly as possible and move onto the styling process. Personally, I don’t like to sit around with wet hair for too long during the colder seasons.
Now for the end, I rinse out the coconut milk hair mask with cool water and finger detangle my hair at the same time. I usually dread the detangling process on wash day, but detangling really is a breeze with this hair mask. This formula leaves my curls hydrated and supple.
