Hat Hair Problems? How to Save Your Straight Hair Look

Save your hair from that hat.

1. Knotty Hair Solution

If your major hat hair problem is dealing with knots, pack a hairbrush in your bag. Not just any hairbrush, you’ll want a paddle brush. Paddle brushes have fewer tines that are spread out enough that they won’t rip through your hair. This is what makes them so adept for detangling! If you have hair that is particularly breakage prone, use a wide-tooth comb instead.

2. Static Clingy

Oh, static a.k.a winter hair’s worst enemy. The lower humidity in winter makes static much worse in the colder months. To help tone down static you’ll need an oily product. Use some of the Suave Professionals Castor Oil & Mango Butter Anti-Breakage Treatment to soothe your static. Just rub a very small amount (so you don’t weigh down your hair) over your fingertips. Then run your fingers through your hair to tamp down the static.

3. Frizz-Fighting

For those who struggle with frizz, you’ll have to start pre-hat. The best way to prevent frizz on your hair is to use a hair serum. The silicones in serums help to surround your hair and keep the frizz down. Bonus: they keep your straight hair even smoother. Apply one pump of the TRESemmé Keratin Infusing Smoothing Serum to your freshly-washed, wet hair. Then blow-dry your hair straight to seal in that smooth frizz-free look.

4. Dull Hair Alert

Serums and oils are both good helpers for dull hair. All that dry air in winter helps to make your hair look dull. Add in hat hair? You’re looking at some matte hair. If you struggle with dull-looking hair choose one or the other, hair serum or oil. Using both will weigh down your hair, using just one will help to boost that shine factor.

5. All Rounder Help

If your hat hair looks something like all of the above, you’ll need a hard hitting product like TRESemmé Frizz Protect Hair Spray. Mist it all over your finished hairstyle, before putting on your hat and heading outside. It helps to protect against static, frizz and all weather issues.

6. Pre-Hat Hair Help

If you’re busy or don’t have enough time to wash your day, you can still look refreshed by using dry shampoo. Try out the Suave Hair Refresher Dry Shampoo that can work to refresh and revive your roots. It will hide the oily look but it doesn’t get rid of the oil that helps to control your hat hair.
