While you may have heard that the pineapple method is a life saver for curly hairstyles, you might not know that it can also save you time when it comes to your night-time hair routine. With this cool hair method, you won’t have to re-curl your hair or wash it all over again just to create a style. And, not only is this method a way of maintaining your hairstyle, it also doubles up as a cool high ponytail hairstyle that you can wear out and about. Read on to learn how you can take advantage of the awesome pineapple hair maintenance trick.

How to do the Pineapple Method

Begin with dry hair.

The pineapple method is a way to preserve your curly hairstyle. This method can be done on the first day of styling or onward. However, you want your hair to be dry, if your hair is wet, this may cause the method to leave indents from your hair tie while it dries. If you find that you second-day hair needs to be refreshed, you can use some dry shampoo like Dove Detox & Purify Dry Shampoo to revive your hair.

Nourish curls with hair oil.

Use a hair oil like Nexxus Oil Infinite Hair Oil to smooth and nourish your curls. Adding an oil to your hair prior to the pineapple method helps to reduce frizz from styling or whilst maintaining your curls overnight.

Gather hair into high ponytail.

Bend your head forward and smooth hair upward into a high ponytail. The goal is to make sure your curls are at the very top of your head and that they fall forward, this way the won’t get flattened while you sleep on your sides. Secure your ponytail with a scrunchie.

There you have it! If you’re wearing this is a style, opt for spraying your hair with a hairspray to keep your curls in place throughout the day. Use TRESemmé Climate Protection Finishing Spray all over your curls to fight against humidity.
