Street Style Micro Hair Trend: The Flipped Side

Flipped ends are back!

Fashion month is in full swing and like the true trend hunters we are, our thumbs are ready to swipe, save and double-tap our top favorite trends and micro trends. While we’re still wearing last year’s hat and hair trend because New York temps still call for it, we can’t help but spring forward and get a head start on new hairstyle trends! First up is the flipped side trend.

Back in the day, many of us threw a fit when our hair would curl outward on its own. Today, what some call the imperfect curl is now a trend again just like it was in the ’70s. Below we are sharing the flipped-end looks that caught out attention and how you can recreate the flipped side street style micro hair trend at home.

The Flipped Side Hair Trend and How to Get The Look

1. The Uniform Flip

This is your clean and neat version of the flipped curl. If you take a glance at this style, you can tell this look was done on purpose. To recreate this style, prep hair with TRESemmé Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Spray. Take a 1-inch flat iron and straighten your hair from the root to the ends. When you get closer the end of your hair, bend your flat iron outward to create the flipped effect. For a smooth finish with a light hold, set your hair with TRESemmé Compressed Micro Mist Hairspray Smooth Hold Level 2.

2. The Wavy Flip

We’ve told you time and time again that the wavy hairstyle just won’t die. To give your look a stylish and on-trend update integrate the flip side trend into the mix. Use your flat iron to create your waves and flip at the ends. Use a flexible hold hairspray like Dove Style + Care Flexible Hold Hairspray to encourage movement.

3. The Undone Flip

If you’re simply obsessed with the lived-in hair look but want to give it a twist, try this undone hair flip. The key to this look is to create it on second-day hair. If you don’t have second-day hair and your locks are instead freshly washed, fake the look by rough-drying. Bend the ends with your flat iron and use your fingers to finger comb your hair and create a mussed-up texture. Finish your style with TRESemmé Compressed Micro Mist Hairspray Texture Hold Level 1 for minimal hold and texture.
