Messy Chignon from the Naeem Khan Show at NYFW
Say hello to your new favorite bun.
You Will Need
As you may have noticed, there’s been a huge wave of messy hairstyles hitting the catwalks but most of them include braids, or wavy locks worn down. What about a good ole’ messy hair bun? For the Naeem Khan FW ’17 show TRESemmé‘s Global Stylist, Odile Gilbert created messy chignon hairstyles, which he describes as “a soft and fresh look with a touch of sophistication.” We don’t know about you, but we’re definitely ready to put our traditional neat ballerina buns away for a while and embrace this new messy look. Read on to learn how you can join us, too.
Tutorial: How to Create A Messy Chignon from the Runway
Step 1: Wash your hair.
To create the look, Gilbert started off with freshly washed hair using the TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume Reverse Wash system. When using the system at home begin with TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume Pre-Wash Conditioner then follow up with TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume Shampoo to remove the weight and give hair body and bounce.
Step 2: Blow-dry your hair.
Before beginning the blowdrying process, the models’ hair was prepped with TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume Mousse to create a soft and natural base. When applying this product through your hair, work it from root to tip with your fingers for even distribution. Next, apply a finger tip amount of TRESemmé Beauty- Full Volume Maximizer to give the hair body and control.
Step 3: Create bun and lock in the style.
To create the messy chignon, softly brush hair back into a ponytail. Twist the ends into an undone bun and secure with bobby pins. Finalize with TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume Flexible Finish Hairspray to lock the look in.
