The start of a new season has us inspired to try out some new and fresh hairstyles. We love creating new looks for fall, it’s the perfect time to incorporate some warm weather styles, like beach waves, with styles perfect for cooler temps, like a slick back style. The minute we saw TRESemmé hairstylist Odile Gilbert‘s slicked beach waves come down the runway for Jonathan Simkhai’s NYFW SS 2020 collection, we knew we had to share it with all of you. We’re going to break down how to create this bold look and the products that will help you get it just right. Keep reading for the scoop:
Combine Two Textures with Slicked Beach Waves
Create Some Soft Beach Waves
The first texture/half of this look that you want to create are you soft waves. Achieve extra shiny and healthy waves by spraying a heat protectant on each section as you curl. Spritz some TRESemmé Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Spray from the root down and then create your loose wave with a curling iron or wand.
Once you’ve got your curls the way you want them, it’s time to create your slicked back style to complete the look. According to Odile Gilbert,
“The key to this effortlessly cool style is the contrast between the sleek and smooth roots and sharp center part, with the relaxed, beachy lengths.”
Slick Back You Style
Let’s get our slick on by first creating a clean center part. Next, divide your hair into sections and use TRESemmé Compressed Micro Mist Hairspray Extend Hold Level 4 at the root to make sure your hair is slick and completely smoothed down.
The secret weapon to re-introducing volume back into the soft waves is hitting your hair with some dry shampoo. We are currently obsessed with Love Beauty & Planet Rosehip & Patchouli Extend Dry Shampoo for a refresh and volume. Spray the lengths of your hair with the dry shampoo and use your fingers to create some natural texture.
That’s all there is to this slicked beach waves style! It’s so easy to recreate and perfect for any early Fall activity you have planned, day or night.
