Braids, Hair Accessories and Messy Half-Up Buns are Trending During Fashion Month S/S ’18

The trends you need to know.

If the trends we are spotting on the runway are any indication of how the spring and summer seasons of 2018 will be, we’re totally here for all of it. This fashion month, we’re coming across a lot of hairstyles and hair accessories that we previously thought we were done with for good. But as we all know, trends are cyclical, and this crop is no exception! Below, we rounding up five of our most coveted trends from the runway and how you can style each on your own. Read on:

5 Fashion Month Hair Trends We’re Obsessed With

1. Pristine Ponytail Braids

If you’re looking for the perfect low ‘do come spring and summer season, look no further than the braided ponytail. Last season it was all about the messy braid, but for 2018, sleek and neat braids are the way to go.

Editor’s tip:  The key to nailing this look is to use a shine spray, like TRESemmé Smooth and Silky No Frizz Shine Spray, to add a glossy, healthy-looking shine to your braid.

2. Pearl Clips

The pearl accessory remains a classic. For spring and summer 2018, pearl hair accessories give off a girly-girl vibe and become the conversational piece of your look. Pair these up with big hair, an updo and a statement earring for a fun springtime or summer vibe.

3. Ribbons

Thanks to the ongoing obsession fashion is having with ribbons, they’re officially back! It didn’t take long for this trend to resurface after seeing it last fashion month on the runway. We feel this look may dominate during wedding season, but there’s no reason why you can’t try the look now. Have an upcoming wedding to plan? Add ribbon hair accessories to your Pinterest board.

Editor’s tip: Ribbons should be used as the cherry on top and used to spruce up the look of your hairstyle. Instead of using a ribbon to fasten your ponytail, use a hair tie instead. Once your ponytail is secure, wrap the ribbon around the base.

4. Retro Headbands

Contrary to popular belief, athleisure is far from being dead. Headbands are reimagined for the spring and summer seasons with bold retro-inspired stripes and embellishments. The next time you need a cute outfit and hairstyle for the gym, don’t leave the house without your cool headband to complete the look.

5. Half-Up Messy Buns

The half-up bun gets a makeover for S/S 2018. However, we can’t say we didn’t see this coming our way after spotting the octopus bun trend recently. To recreate this mussed-up wet look, hair serum is key. Run a bit of TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Shine Serum through slightly damp hair for shine before creating your bun and finish with a firm hold hairspray, like TRESemmé TRES Two Freeze Hold Hairspray.
