Day-to-Night Ponytail Tutorial from NYFW
Not your average ponytail.
You Will Need
The ponytail isn’t going out of style anytime soon, and really why should it? It’s a super easy hairstyle that keeps your hair out of your face when you break a sweat (loose hairs and all) to something quite show-stopping with a few tweaks. This was evidenced at the Jason Wu show where we saw the reinvented day-to-night ponytail hairstyle rocking the runway. Crafted by Holli Smith, NYFW Ambassador for TRESemmé, this casual yet sleek low ponytail is the perfect hairstyle to wear to work that you can easily transition to the evening. Read on to get the details on how to achieve this sleek ponytail at home.
How to Get the Day-to-Night Ponytail from the Jason Wu Show
Step 1: Wash your hair.
Start by washing your hair with TRESemmé Botanique Nourish and Replenish Shampoo and TRESemmé Botanique Nourish and Replenish Conditioner for smooth and silky hair.
Step 2: Apply some mousse.
Apply a small amount of the TRESemmé TRES TWO Extra Hold Mousse and evenly distribute throughout hair for control and added texture.
Step 3: Divide your hair.
Divide the hair into four equal sections and blow-dry each section, making sure to leave a bit of natural texture on the ends.
Step 4: Create a part.
Create a deep part, making sure that the part is not perfect and is slightly messy. Leave a small group of wisps to frame the face.
Step 5: Brush your hair.
Brush your hair back towards the nape of the neck to create a very low ponytail.
Step 6: Secure hair in a low ponytail.
With your chin down, secure hair in a very low ponytail with an elastic.
Step 7: Blow-dry again.
Finish by blowdrying out the ends of the ponytail with hands to elongate.
