The price of wigs varies — a lot. So, when choosing the right wig for you, you need to know your budget. If your budget is low, your may be more limited in your options or you need to save up some extra cash. So, knowing this from the beginning would be best.

Consider the type of hair

Once you know your budget, you need to consider whether you want a synthetic or human hair wig. There are pros and cons to both, so either could be the right one for you, depending on what you’re looking for. For example, synthetic wigs are more cost effective, less reactive to weather, and require less maintenance, though they’re less durable and limited in their styling versatility. On the other hand, human hair wigs look and feel more natural, are more durable, versatile and are less prone to tangles. However, they often come with a hefty price tag, react to the weather and require more styling. To choose the right wig for you, you need to know which set of pros and cons you prefer.

Consider the size

Detangle

Wash your wig regularly

Speaking of washing your wig, you need to do this regularly. This will keep it clean and free of any product buildup. When washing or conditioning your wig, try to not submerge it in water. Rather, rinse it by holding the lengths under cool, running water. Then, press out excess water by gently squeezing — don’t twist or wring the wig.

Consider your products

In the same way you need the right wig, your wig needs the right products. If your wig is synthetic, use shampoo, conditioner and styling products that are specifically formulated for synthetic wigs. For human hair wigs however, you can typically use regular shampoo and conditioner.
