How to refresh your natural curls in-between washes

Calling our girls with the curls! So we know that naturally curly hair doesn’t need to be washed everyday — and it’s healthier that way! But you do need to refresh your hair every now and then between washes, to keep each curl looking its best.

But how should you refresh curls? What’s the best way? Well, in short, the best way is the way that your hair responds best to, and that fits in with your schedule. But that’s not a very helpful answer if you’re looking for guidance. So we’ve put together a quick guide to help you learn how to refresh your curls quickly and easily. Because this routine is so simple, you can also change it up to suit you more, as you get comfortable with the process.

Easy guide to refresh your hair

Section

You can refresh your curls in one go, but we highly recommend you create sections and refresh your hair section by section. How many sections you create depends on the thickness of your hair, but usually 2 to 4 sections are perfect. This way, you can be sure that each curl is seen to, and that by the end, every curl is refreshed and looking its best.

Spritz

When you refresh your hair, we recommend your use a spray bottle to spritz it. This is so much more efficient than applying water with your hands (trust us, we’ve been there and tried that).

You can spritz your hair with plain water, or add in a bit of conditioner or lightweight product for added moisture.

Apply product

Diffuse or air dry

Lastly, you will need to dry your hair. This final step to refresh your hair can be done in one of two ways. You can either air dry or diffuse.

If you diffuse your hair, be sure to use a low or medium heat setting. Move the hairdryer around and be sure to point upward at the root for added volume.

If you choose to air dry your hair, remember to flip your curls over every now and then and fluff it out at the roots. This will help add volume and drama to the look.
