1. Wash in some volume.

You want your model off duty hair to look voluminous, but not like you tried too hard at it. This means most volume adding techniques are out. Instead look to your shampoo for a major boost in volume that doesn’t look fake. We love the Bed Head By TIGI Fully Loaded Massive Shampoo that works to add weightless volume to your hair.

2. Air-dry your hair for natural texture.

The model off duty hair style is really flattering since it works with your natural hair texture. To get your best natural texture, we suggest air-drying your hair. Air-drying hair can change a lot depending on if it is summer or winter. Read this tutorial for tips on air-drying your hair during warmer months and these tips for air-drying hair in the winter.

3. Heat style your hair in small sections.

To amp up your air-dried style to make it into model off duty hair, you’ll need to selectively heat style. Start by misting your hair with the Nexxus New York Salon Care Promend Heat Protecting Mist to shield your hair from heat damage. For straighter hair textures, use a large barrel curling iron to add random loose curls throughout your hair. For curly textures, use a flat iron to lightly (as in don’t totally clamp down) loosen curls in small sections.

4. Tousle your hair.

Let your hair cool, then tousle it to break up the heat styled sections. Use your fingers to create a piecey texture and to create a loose, non-specific part.

5. Set your style.

When you have your hair perfectly tousled, make sure your style won’t fall flat. Lightly mist your hair with the Dove Style+Care Strength And Shine Flexible Hold Hairspray. It’ll add shine to your hair, set your style and keep it flexible. This is so important for model off duty hair. You want it to be shiny and not stiff!
