Whether it be on social media platforms like Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, Facebook or just within your circle of friends, create a (hair) support system. Surrounding yourself with like-minded people that can help you to love your natural hair. Not to mention, it’s a great way to exchange ideas, tips and share hair experiences! Having a good hair support system is also a great way of staying motivated – it’s hard to NOT love your tresses when you’re consistently reminded of how amazing your hair really is!

2. Create a Pinterest hair-inspiration board

Did you recently see an image of awesome natural hair? Then pin it up… to your Pinterest board that is. Collating beautiful visuals isn’t only a great way of celebrating natural hair, it’s also a brilliant way of putting your hair-inspiration all in one place. Festival hairstyles for natural hair? There’s a board for that!

3. Say nice things about your natural hair

It’s time to change the way you talk about your hair and to start speaking about your ‘fro in a positive light. That means trying to cut back on any negative, or underhanded comments about your hair.

Loving your natural hair is so much easier to do when you appreciate everything that’s great about it. So, rather talk about the strengths of your hair. It doesn’t have to be a massive change, just set yourself a small goal of saying a nice comment about your hair every day or making a list of things that you like about your mane! Then, whenever you need a little hair pick-me-up, you can look at this list and smile!

4. Accept that this is your natural hair texture

This top tip is probably one of the hardest to fulfil and is definitely far easier said than done. But whatever your curl type or pattern may be, try to accept your natural hair. Let them flourish and you will see how amazing it can really be.

Pro tip: It’s easier to accept and love your natural hair when it’s looking its best. An easy way to get it looking great is to use products specifically formulated for your natural hair.
