This is a hair hack that’s really been doing the rounds on TikTok. It’s one of the quickest ways to curl your hair, with minimal effort. The best part is, you don’t need loads of skill to do this hair hack either, so it’s beginner-friendly. All you need is a hair tie and a curling wand or flat iron.

Begin by securing your hair in a super high ponytail. Then all you need to do is curl your hair in small sections, from as close to the hair tie as possible. Each section should be about an inch thick, but if you want bigger curls, grab bigger sections of hair, and vice versa for tight curls. When you’ve curled all the hair, loosen the ponytail carefully and run your fingers lightly through your hair. Done!

Here’s a quick YouTube tutorial to get this look.

It may have taken 5 minutes to curl your hair, but it shouldn’t take 5 minutes for those curls to fall flat. Keep them in place with a good hairspray. For really long-lasting curls (even in hot, humid weather!), use a strong hold hairspray like the TRESemmé Extra Hold Hairspray. It has a fast-drying formula and it definitely won’t flake.

If you prefer more movement in your hair, go for a hairspray with a lighter hold. The Toni&Guy Body Amplify Creation Hairspray is a perfect choice for this — it will keep your curls in all day, with zero crunchiness or stiffness.

For this hair hack, you need a small or medium-sized curling wand (approx. 3 1/4 inches) and a hair tie.
Tie up the top half of your hair and split the lower half into two sections. The prep is done, now it’s time to curl your hair. Use your curling wand to create the curls. Once you’re done with this section, untie the top half and split it into two pieces. Secure one side and split the remaining piece into 3 sections. Curl each section and repeat on the other side.

The large section of hair, plus the smaller-sized wand, should even out to give you a medium-sized curl. If you want big, bouncy curls, we recommend a slightly larger curling wand, or your flat iron.

This hair hack works best for those with fine hair, but if your hair is thicker you can simply curl your hair by splitting it into 10 or 12 sections instead of 8. It might take a bit longer, but it’s definitely quicker than doing a lot of smaller curls all throughout your hair.
