Here at All Things Hair HQ we’ve always got our eye out for the latest trends — and the best place to spot trends ahead of time is the runway. So of course we were glued to our screens during New York Fashion Week 2022, to identify what hairstyles are trending and making waves (excuse the pun). So, if you’re keen to stay ahead of the curve, keep reading for our list of top 5 hairdos.
Top trending hairstyles at New York Fashion Week 2022
Without a doubt the number 1 trending look at NYFW A/W 2022 was sleek hair. The style that was most seen was a middle path and pin-straight tresses.
If you’re using heat to get your hair sleek and straight, don’t forget to use heat protectant. The TRESemmé Heat Defence Spray is an excellent choice, as it protects from heat while helping to smooth and lock in shine.
Straight back cornrows
We love seeing natural hairstyles on the runway, and there were plenty this year. Braids were the most-seen look, spotted at multiple shows at New York Fashion Week 2022. It definitely fits in with the theme of “sleek” hair.
Moving onto another sleek hairstyle, the slicked down ponytail was another massive look this year. When keeping up with this trend its totally up to you whether you slick your hair all back, wear it in a middle path or a side path and then leave the loose hair sleek, textured or braided. It was styled in a variety of ways at this year’s NYFW A/W shows.
Long, sleek braids
This hairdo is actually one of our all-time faves. Long, sleek braids could be seen at a few runway shows at New York Fashion Week 2022. After all, it’s pretty much guaranteed to make a statement.
Another natural hairstyle, this is a classic. The TWA was a common sight at New York Fashion Week 2022 runway shows — and we couldn’t be happier about it. Embrace that natural texture, embrace the TWA.
Keep your TWA well-moisturised and looking it’s finest with a good leave-in product. Our top choice? Definitely the Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Restore Leave-in Conditioner. It will moisturise, repair, nourish and smooth your hair.
