1. Be bold with a buzzcut

Perhaps the most obvious way to grow out an undercut is to cut your hair so it’s all one length. We absolutely love this ‘do — so why not rock a buzzcut (it is super trendy right now, FYI!)

To keep your buzzcut looking posh add a hint of shine. The TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Shine Oil is a great, effortless way to add both moisture and a healthy shine. Just because the hair is super short, doesn’t mean it doesn’t need TLC. Go on, show your short hair some love.

2. Go for a pixie

If you’re not quite ready to shave off your tresses, why not try a pixie cut? There is a pixie cut that suits everyone. From short, soft pixies to longer choppy styles, you can grow out your undercut in multiple ways with a cute pixie cut.

3. Try different partings

When it comes to questioning how to grow out an undercut, this cheat option is our personal fav – and it’s all about your hair parting!

We know that the first two tips may have been a little drastic for you, so this clever hair hack is the simplest way to disguise your undercut (it’s especially good for any last-minute engagements that may require a more traditional hairstyle).

If you are currently rocking a bold, side-shaved undercut like Demi Lovato had, or a more discreet undercut cuffing the ear, the quickest way to cover the style is by playing about with different hair partings. Simply put, try swapping your side parting over to the opposite side so your longer hair conceals the undercut. Or simply sweep all your hair over to the same side as the undercut, for a more chic look.

Now this might not work for the whole time it takes your undercut to grow out, but for last-minute styles or until your undercut grows to a longer length, it’s certainly an option.

4. Embrace the growing out phase

Now we have to believe that you’re a girl who loves bold styles, otherwise, what were you thinking getting an undercut in the first place? So we say embrace the growing out stages with edgy styles like Cara Delevingne did.

Show off your undercut with a single cornrow braid, or be daring and take inspiration from Zoe Kravitz, who teamed her undercut with single braids all over.

But it doesn’t stop there, as singer Cassie famously trail blazed the undercut style and wore her long hair in an array of fabulous updos, even going as far as adding cool shaved patterns into the sides.

5. Play with accessories

When it comes to how to grow out an undercut, why not turn to your favourite hair accessories? Great for sprucing up any hairstyle or bad hair day, hair accessories will also work as a distraction while your undercut grows out.

Kelly Osbourne added safety pin hair accessories to her pastel purple hair for a tough finish to her undercut. But the reality TV star and Fashion Police host didn’t stop there, she also threw in a mix of single braids for extra edge!

Not into punk-inspired accessories? We love the pearl and star accessories that have been spotted all over social media, or how about the stylish beret trend all the bloggers have been wearing? Either way, there is a host of styling possibilities waiting for you to uncover.

Don’t have enough hair for accessories to grip properly? Spray some TRESemmé Extra Hold Hairspray onto the accessory before wearing it. This enables it to grip the hair easier.
