Get the Parted Twist Bun: Hot off the NYFW SS17 Runway

Serena Norr | 08 September 2016

A runway ready look that’s all about hair wisps.

The team at All Things Hair has been super busy scouting the latest hair trends for New York Fashion Week and loving every minute of it. One style that we’ve been obsessed with (to put it mildly) is the cute parted twist bun as seen at the Marissa Webb show at NYFW. Our team had the opportunity to spend some time backstage to see this look come together.

Developed by TRESemmé‘s Stylist Jeanie Syfu, this updo is the perfect laid back hairstyle that beautifully compliments Webb’s collection that reflects the urban modern girl. The key is its signature wispy pieces that gently come out of the hairstyle after the parted twist bun is put together. Part edgy, part romantic, we love how this look is easy enough to recreate at home. Read on to learn more about how to master this awesome parted twist bun with some insider hair tips from Syfu.

Step 1: Prep your hair.

Prep your hair with some of the TRESemmé Extra Firm Control Mousse. Then, blow-dry your hair using a paddle brush to smooth it, which also helps to encourage your natural texture.

Step 2: Create a deep part.

Create a deep side part with a comb. Then, make a horizontal part from ear-to-ear and clip top half of the head away.

Step 3: Gather hair.

Gather remaining hair into a low ponytail at the nap of the neck and fasten with an elastic.

Step 4: Release top section of your hair.

Release the top section of your hair and begin twisting back one section at a time starting the ear towards the ponytail. Wrap the ends around the elastic and secure with a bobby pin.

Step 5: Gently pull your hair.

Gently pull out wispy, face-framing pieces to soften the look and set the style with some of the TRESemmé TRES Two Extra Firm Hold Hair Spray.
