A two-in-one look that’s perfect for summer.
As I mentioned in my hair history, I haven’t really tried anything that wild on my hair. But, now I’m starting to be more open to trying new things and mix things up a bit. Last Friday, our editorial team was invited by Suave to celebrate Summer Fridays at DreamDry in Flatiron, which seemed like the perfect way to step outside of my hair box, ever so slightly. To set us up, the team at DreamDry had an awesome menu of blowout hairstyles to choose from. Normally, I would go for the classic blowout with a slight flip on ends. But their menu of hairstyle options inspired me to go for something a bit different with a combo of wavy ends with a half braided crown that was dubbed the “Stevie” and the “Juliette.” Read on to discover how this half braided crown look was created and what products were used.
Getting the Half Up Braided Crown
After I figured out the style I wanted, the stylist at Dream Dry washed and conditioned my hair. She used the Suave Professionals Coconut Milk Infusion Deep Moisture Shampoo and the Suave Professionals Coconut Milk Infusion Deep Moisture Conditioner, which smelled incredible as she applied and provided me with a mini massage. She actually said that she conditioned my hair twice because it was so dry (yikes!) the coconut-infused formula was just what my hair needed as it nourished my hair.
Next up, she applied the Suave Professionals Keratin Infusion Heat Defense Leave-in Conditioner to my hair. Infused with KERALOCK TECHNOLOGY, this lightweight formula helped to keep my hair moisturized and protected during the blowdrying process. She then combed it, and worked section-by-section to blow-dry it straight. The front part of my hair is super frizzy where she applied some Suave Professionals Biotin Infusion Anti-Breakage Serum to that section. She then used a comb to blow-dry that section. A really cool hair hack, you comb the hair upward as you blow-dry, which works to smooth out the hair. I can’t wait to try this for myself since that section has always been really annoying to deal with.
Then she created two side dutch braids. I’ve only really tried simple braids before, so even seeing this style on my hair was something out of the norm for me! She then placed the two braids towards the back of my head and held them together with some bobby pins. She then used a curling wand to create some waves on the bottom part of my hair. I loved this combo of braids and waves that looked super wearable, and even better, like me! She locked the style in place by using the Suave Professionals Luxe Style Infusion Anti-Humidity Hairspray. This formula is super lightweight that gives a brushable (a.k.a. non-sticky) finish. It’s can also resist frizz, even in 95% humidity! This is definitely one of my new must-have products for summer.
A look that’s soft and romantic, the Stevie and Juliette combination might not have been a wild look but it was something out of my normal routine that I can’t wait to try again very soon.
