Been considering trying out the wavy bob trend? Discover the best celebrity inspiration and short hair styling tips, here.
A wavy bob is a short women’s haircut, typically cut to jaw-length (although shorter and mid-length versions are also popular). Originating in the 1910s and 20s when women started to rebel against societal norms by wearing their hair short, it’s now one of the most coveted hairstyles around. There are countless variations of the bob, so what this style lacks in length it more than makes up for in styling options. One of 2019’s most sought-after hairstyles, stars like Emily Ratajkowski and Khloe Kardashian have popularised the wavy bob on the red carpet.

Expert Tips For Wavy Bobs
So you’ve decided to take the plunge and go for the big chop? Here are some of our top tips for DIY styling your new wavy bob at home.
Use texturising products
Texture is key when it comes to styling a bob. Thankfully, if your hair is naturally super straight or lacking in lift, there’s a whole variety of texture-boosting products that can help to give your hair more oomph.
Spray the VO5 Dry Texturising Spray onto dry hair to add a tousled, undone look and give your strands more grip.
Get waves while you sleep
Trying to cut down on how much heat you use on your hair, or just hate the thought of spending ages on your hair in the morning?
After washing your hair in the evening, twist damp hair into braids or small buns and you’ll wake up to amazing, natural-looking waves – no heat needed.
Use sea salt spray
Sea salt spray is a must for adding beachy texture to shorter hair. Spritz the TONI&GUY Sea Salt Texturising Spray through your lengths to enhance any natural waves and add a just-off-the-beach, summery feel.
Get regular trims
Depending on your particular style, you’ll probably need to get your bob trimmed every 4-6 weeks.
Some more precise and blunt styles might need touch-ups even more regularly to keep them looking sharp, whereas longer lob styles won’t be quite so high-maintenance and can be left for longer.
Tease your roots for volume
Shorter styles put extra emphasis on the roots, so if your hair is looking a little flat, try teasing (aka backcombing) your roots for lasting, plumped-up volume. Find out how, here.
