Short hairstyles 2016: The styles to try before the year is up
The textured quiff
Quiffs have certainly made a comeback this year, and we really couldn’t be happier! While they can be styled in a number of different ways, we reckon that they look best when worn with loads of lovely texture and height. But our favourite thing about this short hairstyle? It’s super easy to create at home – just check out our step-by-step tutorial as proof!
Editor’s tip: Quiffs look best when they’re nice and thick, so if you have thin or fine strands, use a volume-boosting wash and care set, like the TIGI Bed Head For Men Charge Up Thickening Shampoo and Conditioner, before styling.
Looking for an effortless and easy-to-manage hairstyle? Then the buzz cut will be your new best mate. This uber short style features closely-shaven hair all over, and is suitable for all hair types (no wonder it’s a favourite among top celebrities like Will Smith and Brad Pitt, then!).
But don’t think that all buzz cuts need to be extremely short: while some styles are created with a #0 clipper guard, you can still pull off this style with a #1, #2, or even #3 clipper attachment length! Who said you had to lob off all your locks for this look? Not us.
A perfectly-polished, party-ready hairstyle has been sweeping the nation this year, and it comes in the form of slicked sides! This dapper hairstyle is truly timeless, and is ideal for any formal occasion: from your office Christmas party, to a winter wedding, it is a look that you can rely on as a fail-safe ‘do.
The Ivy League haircut
Spotted on the heads of A-list stars like Ryan Gosling and Ryan Reynolds, the highly-groomed Ivy League haircut is basically a variation on the classic crew cut, but with a dapper side parting. Other distinct features of this style, are that it retains a little bit more length at the front, whereas the sides, back and top are tapered.
But what really sets this short haircut apart from the rest, is that it can be worked whichever way you want – so, if you’re after a style that can be worn sleek or casual, then this is definitely the ‘do for you!
