Valentine’s Day hairstyles: 2 Pretty faux short hair styles
Before creating either of Nikki’s short hair styles, follow the steps below to prep your hair for styling.
Both of these looks call for curly locks, so first brush through your hair to ensure it’s tangle-free. Then, take a 1-2 inch wide section of hair and curl it using a curling tong. Repeat this process until all of your hair is curled!
Editor’s tip: Curl your hair away from your face for a swept-out look.
Short hair styles look #1: The faux bob
Roll and tuck your hair.
It’s time to start creating your flirty faux bob! Start by dividing your hair into 4 equal section. Then, starting from the ends of your hair, roll each section up and inwards towards the nape of your neck, ensuring that your ends are tucked neatly under to create the illusion of shorter hair. Then, secure your hair in place with some bobby pins.
And you’re done! You’ve officially mastered the faux bob!
Short hair styles look #2: The deconstructed chignon
Create a centre parting.
First, brush through your hair to loosen your curls for a softer effect. Then, use a comb (or your fingers if you’re a pro!) to give yourself a neat centre parting.
Section your hair.
Separate a 2-3 inch-wide section of hair from either side of your face using sectioning clips.
Backcomb your hair.
Take a small section of hair (around 1-2 inches wide) from your crown area, and spritz it with the Toni&Guy Body Amplify Creation Hairspray. Then, use your comb to backcomb this section, to add volume and body.
Create a ponytail.
Gently brush the backcombed section of hair back until it’s smooth, and then gather the rest of your hair (excluding the front portions that you sectioned in step 2) into a low ponytail.
Create a chignon.
To create your chignon, twist your ponytail, and then wrap it around it’s base. Then, secure your ‘do in place with some bobby pins.
Backcomb the front sections of your hair.
Spray the front two sections of your hair with some of the Toni&guy Body Amplify Creation Hairspray, before backcombing them. Then, twist these pieces around your chignon for a pretty finishing touch. Secure your ‘do with some more bobby pins and another spritz of hairspray!
And there you have it, your deconstructed chignon is complete!
