Now don’t let its deceptively intricate appearance put you off; truth is, this chic, perfect-for-every-occasion hairstyle is totally simple to master.

So, what are you waiting for? It’s time to fake it ’til you make it with our nifty styling guide, below.

How to create an easy updo: The fake braid roll

1

Detangle.

Before you start your easy updo, wash your hair with the TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume Pre-Wash Conditioner and the TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume Shampoo.

Just pre-condition first to soften hair and follow with the shampoo. Once your hair is clean, gently brush or comb it to get rid of any knots and tangles. Now your hair’s ready for creating this faux braid updo!

2

Curl your hair.

Next, using the TONI&GUY Glamour Jumbo Tonglightly curl two-thirds of your hair.

And don’t forget to prep your locks by using a heat protectant, like the VO5 Smoothly Does It Heat Protect Serum. This will help banish any frizz, seal in shine and offer heat protection of up to 230℃.

3

Take hair from your temples.

Now pick up 2 sections of hair from near your temples (approximately an inch wide) and draw them towards the back of your head.

4

Pin your hair.

Bring these 2 pieces of hair together at the back of your head, using bobby pins to secure them in place at your crown.

5

Repeat the process.

Take another 2 small section of hair from either side of your head and pin them just underneath your first pinned section. Continue to do this until you reach the nape of your neck.

It’s important to make sure you pin the 2 sections of hair together just below the previous, as this is what will help create the braid effect of your updo.

6

Roll and tuck.

Take the remaining piece of hair at the bottom and roll it inwards, tucking it in at the base of your neck. Secure it in place with a few bobby pins, using as many as you need.

7

Final look.

For the finishing touch, mist your mane with the TIGI Bed Head Masterpiece Shine Hairspray to help hold the style in place. And just like that you’ve achieved a stunning faux braided updo. Go you!
