Fans of our Style It On vlogger series will know that this month we’re all about the sleek, straight hairstyles. Naturalista Mini Marley kick started the challenge by sharing her elegant low puff tutorial and now we’re back with yet another stunning hair look for you to try!

Our resident beauty vlogger and YouTube star Nikki Phillippi has created a pretty, straight long bob hairstyle inspired by A-listers like Kendall Jenner. Simple yet classy, it’s the perfect style to take you from desk to drinks and beyond- with no touch-ups needed!

So, to find out how you can steal Nikki’s style for yourself, check out our step-by-step breakdown below.

How to create a sleek and straight long bob hairstyle by Nikki Phillippi

1

Wash your hair.

As this look is all about straight, sleek locks, start by washing your hair using the Dove Nourishing Oil Shampoo and Conditioner.

This gently cleansing haircare duo has been specially formulated to tame frizzy strands and leave your locks feeling silky smooth – it’s practically a hair miracle!

Dry your hair.

Next, spritz the VO5 Heat Defence Spray all over your hair while it’s still damp. This will help to prep and protect your locks before it’s exposed to any heat styling.

Then it’s time to dry your hair. In her video, Nikki recommends allowing your hair to air dry naturally if possible, but if you’re short on time you can always use a hairdryer to speed things up!

Straighten your hair.

Once your hair is totally dry, divide it into sections. Starting at the back of your head and working forwards, begin straightening your hair. For a super silky finish, take Nikki’s advice and use a paddle brush to brush through your locks as you straighten.

Create a deep side parting.

Now, this is where things start to get interesting! To give your straight long bob a little extra flair, use your fingers (or a tail comb, depending on how neat you want your ‘do) to create a deep side parting on one side of your head.

Spotted at shows like Chanel already this season, deep side partings are set to be big in 2017!

Curl your fringe.

Next, use a curling wand to curl your bangs away from your face and use a clip to hold them in place until they’ve totally cooled.

Editor’s tip: Curling your hair away from your face is key, as this will help to create a face framing and flattering look.

Create a twist.

Then take a section of hair around 1-inch thick on the opposite side of your head to the piece that you just curled. Twist it right down to the end and tuck it behind your hair. Secure in place using bobby pins, positioning them into an ‘X’ shape for extra hold.

Finally, finish up by spraying your mane with a strong-hold hairspray like the Toni&Guy Extreme Style Creation Hairspray so that you can be confident that your style will stay put all day.
