Bridging the gap: Trendy short to medium haircuts

Can't make your mind up on which hair look you should rock? Sounds like you need some short-medium hairstyles inspiration!

Don’t get us wrong, we love ultra short hairstyles as much as the next person. Be it a buzzcut or a tightly cropped pixie, these styles have become synonymous with red carpet glamour the world over! However, being the indecisive bunch we are, the All Things Hair team can’t help but lust after all the short to medium haircuts on the market.

What makes medium-short haircuts so great is that they’re ideal if you enjoy the free feeling of cropped hair, yet still want enough length to experiment with various styles. So, to help you find your perfect go-between look, we’ve come up with an edit of our fave celebrity-endorsed medium to short haircuts! Go on, have a peek.

Katy Perry’s long pixie cut

Hair chameleon Katy Perry is no stranger to a daring new cut. And as some of you may remember, it was only recently that we reported on the star’s new ‘do, revealing to us on Instagram her post-breakup makeover!

However, it was at the iHeartRadio Music Awards that the singer-songwriter gave us the first real look at her long pixie cut, which had been perfectly coiffed for the event. This is also one of our favourite short-medium hairstyles for those growing out their hair as the sides can remain cropped, while the top becomes long and adaptable!

Lucy Hale’s sharp bob

Medium-short hairstyles might seem like a challenge to get right, but Pretty Little Liars star Lucy Hale shows us exactly how it’s done. This blunt cut bob works perfectly for both straight or wavy tresses, and is the ideal length for working a bun, too!

With all the cropped qualities of a bob, yet the length capability to be styled into a half-up, half-down ‘do, this look really does give you the best of both worlds. Seriously, what more could you want? Credit: @lucyhale

Maisie Williams’ lob

Known for her role as Arya Stark in Game of Thrones, British actress Maisie Williams has reached our list for short to medium haircuts for her brown wavy lob hairstyle. Neither too short nor too long, this look perfectly works the middleground to give the wearer tonnes of sass and versatility in their hair! Credit: @maisie_williams

Editor’s tip: Want beachy waves like Maisie’s but don’t want to use heated styling tools to get them? No problem, just grab your bottle of the Toni&Guy Sea Salt Texturising Spray and scrunch the product in with your hands for a lusicous, lived-in texture.

In our top list of medium short hairstyles is Vanessa Hudgens sleek bob.

And being the style maven she is, she’s also able to transform her whole look at a stroke of a brush – or pair of scissors to be exact. Credit: @vanessahudgens
