Autumn’s hottest colour trend? Pumpkin spice hair, of course!

Jeanette | 21 September 2016

The next big thing? Matching your locks to your latte.

That’s right, you’ve read the headlines correctly. Believe it or not, pumpkin spice hair is actually trending on pretty much every social media platform right now. Don’t be fooled into thinking that this new hair colour is just ‘copper hair‘, because it’s far more three-dimensional, drawing colour inspiration from Starbucks’ famed Pumpkin Spice Latte. (Drooling yet?)

Aptly timed with the change in seasons and the ritual roll-out of the caffeinated drink, for those who are unfamiliar with this irresistibly unctuous Starbucks icon, the name might conjure up images of bright pumpkin-coloured hair. However, it’s actually a lot more subtle and very pretty.

So, if you want to know what all the fuss is about, click through our gallery, above, or scroll down to see our Instagram favourites. Autumn, we’re ready for you!

As mentioned earlier, you can quickly banish any ideas of block-coloured, orange hair. This trend is all about working subtle saffron hues into your tresses – think: warm auburn and copper variations, blended with pretty pumpkin tones.

There’s also no need to worry if you don’t have Rapunzel-like locks, because this works well on both long and short hair lengths – so be prepared to see everyone rocking this new hue soon! Credit: @lechandeliersalon

The easiest way to rock this trend is to work your pumpkin spice hair colours, using ombre or balayage techniques. These hair colouring techniques are great because they have a far more subtle finish, compared to their bolder colour cousin – highlights. And the best part? You don’t even have to worry about your roots growing out! Credit: @yorcheb

Got dark hair? Well, don’t be fooled into thinking that you can’t jump aboard this hair colour trend. You can easily tap into pumpkin spice hair by adding richer, auburn hair colours and keeping your roots dark. Not only will this will help anchor the lighter hues, but it will also perfectly frame your face. One pumpkin spice hair to go please! Credit: @djvictory

All you have to do is evenly work in some warmer orange hues throughout the lengths of your hair. Trust us, you’ll instantly look like an autumnal strawberry blondeCredit: @handecan
