zoella shows how to create 3 festival hairstyles

3-day-old hair has never looks so good.

Be it Glastonbury, Secret Garden Party, or Latitude, festivals bring endless fun – but they also raise all sorts of hair-related dilemmas. However, equipped with the right products and a smattering of inspired festival hair ideas that can be replicated without all your home comforts, they don’t have to equal tears and a stressful string of never-ending bad hair days.

But what should you do when faced with the prospect of sun, sweat, camping, and battling through mosh pits and muddy British fields? What happens when showers, trusty hair products and electrical styling tools are not readily at hand, and dry shampoo is now your new (and only) best friend? Fear not: beauty vlogger Zoella has done all the hard work, giving us three fabulous festival hair ideas that will survive any circuit, as well as her top tips for creating each.

3 Festival hair ideas

Curls and Crowns.

It’s all about optimising the advantages of your hair’s freshly-washed texture on day one. Tip: remember to wash your hair with a lightweight shampoo and conditioner, like the VO5 Give Me Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner (400ml, £3.99 each*), as you don’t want to weigh it down too much. Zoella suggests creating easy loose curls using straighteners and VO5 Nourish My Shine Bedazzling Heat Protector (£3.99*) that will give your hair plenty of movement, while also providing the perfect foundation for the weekend. Seal in the waves with TRESemmé’s Perfectly (un)Done Ultra Brushable Hairspray (£5.50*) and finish off with a feminine flower crown.

Twists and Braids.

You may find that your hair still has some oomph left but is a little more limp than it was on the previous day. Zoella suggests using the Toni&Guy Classic Styling Perfect Tease Dry Shampoo (£7.49*), which is great for enhancing any bounce still left in your lived-in locks while also giving some texture and grip. Put hair up into a twisted half ponytail and complete with some cute baby braids smattered around for good measure.

Mini ’90s Buns.

By day 3, your body may still be rocking but your hair will be beating a different tune with greasy roots and a more oily texture. To combat those dirty tresses, Zoella recommends getting creative with funky 90s-inspired double mini buns. Start by touching up your roots with some dry shampoo (also a stellar styling tool!), then part your hair, work into two pigtails, and twist each pigtail into a bun, securing with an elastic hairband. Adjust the size and messiness of the buns as you wish and finally, seal it all in with TRESemmé’s Freeze Hold Hairspray (500ml, £4.99*) for a stronger grip, et voila! An easy look that’s bound to last until the final encore.
