Why have one bun when you could have two buns, right? The two bun hairstyle was made popular by Star Wars icon Princess Leia (hence the hairstyle’s other popular the name: space buns). Then it was made trendy in the ’90s by stars like the Spice Girls and Gwen Stefani (during her No Doubt days).
Fast forward to the present day and this hairstyle is seen pretty much everywhere — from festivals, your local streets to even the red carpet and runway.
So, we’ve teamed up with beauty blogger Sophie Hannah Richardson (AKA the festival hair queen!) to show you how to get them. Trust us, you’ll want to rock this look all summer and beyond.
Divide your hair into two sections.
Start by using a comb or your fingers to equally divide your hair (down the middle) into 2 equal sections. Then using hairbands, secure each section into two low ponytails.
Styling tip: To make your double low buns look extra smooth and sleek, apply some serum like the TONI&GUY Shine Gloss Serum to help slick down any flyaways and add shine.
Tease and twist your pigtail.
Now it’s time for the fun part! Take your first ponytail and loosely twist it all the way down to the end of your hair.
Create a bun.
After you’ve teased and twisted your first ponytail, wrap your hair around the base of the ponytail, and keep on wrapping till you’ve created a bun shape.
Once you’ve got a shape you like, secure it with as many bobby pins as needed to hold the look in place.
Your two buns hairstyle is complete!
And there you have it: dazzling double low buns that’ll steal the spotlight at your next party!
Styling tip: Worried that your pretty buns will fall loose? Make them party-proof with a generous helping of the VO5 Ultimate Hold Hairspray. This fast-drying hairspray will help hold your buns all day long while protecting your hair from frizz and humidity. Neat, eh?
